Decathlon chooses Emersya’s Interactive 3D to present their product innovations at the Reveal Innovation 2023

Decathlon’s Reveal Innovation 2023 took place last Wednesday, 11th October. This is an important annual event for Decathlon, where they present and reward the company’s most innovative product designs. Decathlon files more than 50 patents every year! Emersya is thrilled to have been able to support Decathlon before, during and after this year’s event as their 3D and AR technology partner.

Emersya is a French scale-up that has been pioneering 3D and Augmented Reality technology for over 10 years. They develop a SAAS platform and web-based solutions that empower brands and retailers to create immersive and engaging product experiences using their state-of-the-art, real-time 3D rendering technology. This universal solution bridges the gap between online and in-store shopping to provide consumers with a unique experience.

Since its launch in 2005, Decathlon have been innovating the event’s format year upon year. This year Decathlon introduced the possibility to discover their 16 product innovations in Interactive 3D, during the live conference. The 16 innovations were grouped into 4 different categories: Design Innovation, Techno Innovation, Ecodesign Innovation and Experience Innovation.

The physical event was streamed live around the world, reaching a global audience of 40 000 people across approximately 60 countries including internal teams, suppliers, industrial partners, brands, press and the general public. All event participants were able to vote for the best innovation in each of the 4 categories.

Here are this year’s winning product innovations:

  • Design Innovation: “Space Saver Suitecase” Sports bag
  • Techno Innovation: “Condensless” technology (multi-layer breathable material for tents)
  • Ecodesign Innovation: “Yulex 100” (natural latex to replace neoprene)
  • Experience Innovation: “Subea Kitcom” (snorkeling mask with Bluetooth communication)

Decathlon have announced that the 16 nominated products will be coming to their stores in 2024.

In the build-up to Reveal Innovation 2023, Emersya prepared polygonal 3D
models of the 16 products selected by a jury to be presented at the event. The models were published on the Emersya platform to create Interactive 3D product discovery experiences for the web. Just as simply as embedding a Youtube video, Decathlon were able to easily integrate the Interactive 3D experiences into the website they created for the live streaming of their conference.

Whether watching online or at the physical event, spectators were able to explore the different product innovations from every angle using their mobile, tablet or laptop, thanks to Emersya’s Interactive 3D. The experience empowered them to visualize each product helping them to make a more informed decision about which one to vote for. During the live conference, only a short video presentation (1m30) was provided for each product innovation, demonstrating the different features. The addition of the Interactive 3D experience provided spectators with the possibility to further explore each product for themselves.

Decathlon also used the real-time 3D experiences provided by Emersya to create a virtual showroom on their Reveal Innovation website to offer an interactive story-telling experience for each of the 16 product innovations. The website allows those who missed the event to watch the replay and discover all the features of the 16 innovative products for themselves thanks to Emersya’s technology! As well as being able to freely explore the products from every angle, they can discover all the innovative parts of the product in great detail thanks to a high definition zoom and the realistic quality of the 3D rendering. Visitors are either taken through the product discovery experience as they scroll down the page, or they can click on the numbered features on the Interactive 3D model to discover each one in more detail.
