3DRC Grand Challenge
Emersya has been selected as the winner of the 2022 3DRC Retail Digital Transformation Grand Challenge! The 3DRC Grand Challenge is a joint initiative of the 3D Retail Coalition (3DRC), IEEE SA, and PI Apparel for the retail/apparel industry to explore technology applications and standards enabling next-generation consumer experiences.
Now in its 5th year, the 2022 Grand Challenge invited academic institutions and start-ups to present creative research and industry solutions that demonstrate the potential to transform the way companies create, make, and sell new products, by harnessing the power of 3D digital product creation.
The theme for the 2022 Grand Challenge was the scaling and automation of 3D product virtualization across the different stages of the product lifecycle. Candidates were asked to demonstrate how their research or solution helps to build and advance industry-wide capabilities to scale the use of virtual 3D products and create tools to automate workflows. The solutions were reviewed by a panel of judges composed of digital transformation experts from leading brands, retailers, consulting companies and the IEEE Standards Association.

Emersya was selected as the winner based on the technological, social and business impact of their solutions:
Technological – Emersya has developed plugins, connections and API’s to help users build a streamlined & interconnected workflow to leverage 3D assets at scale from product creation to commercialisation.
Social – The Emersya platform breaks down the silos between different departments (design, development, marketing, sales etc.) by providing an agnostic, easy-to-use and online 3D solution that enables teams to collaborate using 3D assets. The platform helps optimize and automate time-consuming tasks throughout the product lifecycle, leaving more time for more time for creativity, whilst reducing time to market.
Business – On top of the overall reduction of costs thanks to the digitalisation and optimisation upstream, Emersya’s technology enables brands to increase consumer engagement, conversion rate and customer loyalty through offering immersive and enriching product experiences downstream.
The fact that the tool could provide rapid iteration, easy export from digital content creation tools, and create a variety of new outputs from 3D models was appealing.Â
